I found my new AKC registered Boston Terrier female Rosie through a show contact and fell in love with her face. I love her longer nose, she came from a mom who free whelps, she has a wonderful slightly longer tail that comes straight out off her spine, her ears stick up perfectly and she is the most calm puppy I have ever had. She is exactly what I was looking for in a breeding female.
With my Vet Tech background I find it very important for Boston Terriers to be able to breathe well and not be quite so brachecephalic. I feel like current breedings have caused the Boston Terrier to loose its vintage look. If you look at vintage pictures of Boston Terriers, they had a much longer nose. It is my goal to produce a slightly longer nose, but to also stay within the AKC standards of 1/3 the length of the head.
All of my breeding females and males will have extensive testing done before breeding. BAER hearing tests, ACVO certified opthamologist eye exams, and OFA-CHIC Patella Certifiction as recommended by the AKC for breeding Boston Terriers. I may even do spinal radiographs and genetic testing just to cover all my bases.
I will work extensively with puppies as they grow, giving them socialization with children, handling them often to learn their individual personalities, and starting potty training at a young age. I would like to try and place my puppies in the perfect homes for their individual personalities so as to reduce any need for re-homing. As stated in the contract, I will always accept/require the return of my puppies if there is the need for re-homing. They will always be considered a part of my family.
I home cook for all my dogs, nutrition is very important to me. All puppies will be fed a mix of home cooked food and high quality store bought puppy food once they are weaned. I would love to talk about food options before you take your new puppy home, and will even give you the recipes I use. I always supplement with an appropriate vitamin and mineral to make sure my food is not lacking in anything.
